I really use this blog as a way to post pictures since I am not on Facebook. I realized though that for those of you who live far away, which is basically all of you, you might want to actually know a little more about the boys. Pictures can only say so much. The boys are growing up so fast and they are so uniquely different that I wanted to take a minute to tell you about them.
Blake is almost done with Kindergarten. He loved Kindergarten, but is really excited to be a first grader. He is a super duper reader and has already passed me up in math skills. He loves super heroes and angry birds. Don't get him started about either of those though or you will be stuck listening to him for....well forever if you let him. His imagination is incredible. He loves to be silly and has a great laugh. He is getting to the age where he is also very clever and his humor is maturing so he gets things that he wouldn't have a few years ago. He is a very loyal friend. His friend Bruce means the world to him. We'll be out shopping and he'll see a toy that Bruce would like and says "Bruce would love this, we should get this for him." He's also had the same girlfriend all year. Her name is MaKenna and she is as cute as can be. He gets really excited to give people gifts. For my birthday he made me a birthday card and stuck a dollar bill in it. I wish I could have taped the look on his face and his excitement to have me open my card. It was so precious! He also loves to give me crystals. He finds crystals at recess and after school and brings them to me. There are some really pretty ones and I have quite the crystal collection now. Drew also likes to bring me "crystals." After Blake gives me beautiful hand picked crystals, Drew reaches in to his sock and says, "Mommy, I have something for you too!" Most often they are brown and not crystals at all, but I think it is really cute. Alright, back to Blake. He just learned how to ride his bike without training wheels. His reward for learning that skill was to get to use my dad's old i-phone that he'd given us a few years ago. Blake only uses the iPod function of it, but since he really has an ear for music, he is thrilled to get to have his own iPod. We want to start him in piano lessons soon, but aren't quite ready for the commitment yet. We just signed him up for cub scouts for next year. He came home from school one day begging to be in cub scouts. It's the first time he's really been that excited about an activity. I think it will be fun for him and Kyle:) I'm sure there are some key things I forgot to tell you about Blake, but I can add those later if I think of them. Oh, Baby Ducky, yes, he is still with us.
Drew is an animal of his own......it's true. He is a noodle. If you know what a noodle is, please enlighten me. He swims around on the floor. Kyle thinks maybe like a pool noodle. Could be. He loves animals! He lays on Rudy and just adores him. Rudy would probably prefer that Drew didn't even know he had a dog. Drew is also super silly and funny. Yesterday at dinner he said, "Am I funny?" and made this hilarious face with his mouth and eyes wide open. Of course we cracked up. Yes, Drew, you are funny. Drew loves to be outdoors exploring and chasing animals. He also loves music and sings all the time. Sometimes I can't tell what he is singing, but I think they are real songs. Drew is a snuggle bug. He is super sweet and loves to snuggle (when he's not torturing animals or exploring). He just started swim lessons and was scared to get in the water in the first class, but he did great yesterday. He's really just learning how to get comfortable with the water. He loves riding his tricycle and doing anything that big brother does. Drew is our veggie eater. He loves carrots. One night he had cake in front of him and asked us if we had any carrots. Seriously? This is not my child. I am so happy that I have a veggie eater though since Blake won't touch the stuff. Drew goes to daycare 3 days a week when I work and loves playing with his friend Asher and reading books. He's quite obsessed with books. He also loves his teacher, Mrs. Jennifer. Yesterday I walked in to his classroom and I heard Drew say "Mrs. Jennifer, I love you so much." It was very cute.
So how does it work when the boys get together? Do they play well? They are either super sweet and best pals or it is all out war. They are so fun to watch when they are being pals. Blake reads to Drew a lot. They love jumping in their little trampoline together and trying to outdo each other on who can jump the highest. We try to remind Blake that he is 3 years older than Drew, but it's still a competition in his eyes.
