Exotic Zoo

Today we went with my parents to the Johnson City Exotic Zoo.  It was pretty amazing and the animals were all so cool.  They just came right up and took food from our hands.  Blake loved it, but Drew was a little unsure.  I think a goat got a little too aggressive with him early on and it kind of scared him.  He had also skipped his nap so maybe that played a role too.  I think I want to buy a llama now and possibly a camel.  They are so friendly! (at least the ones at this park).

This camel liked to steel buckets of feed so the driver always brings one along for him to take.

This was right after my mom accidentally threw food down his nostril.

This one was one of my favorites because it is so delicate and beautiful.

We got ice cream afterwards but ended up getting it somewhere else.  The funny thing is that when I told Blake that we were going to do something special today he said, "Is it a treat?  Do we get to go to Walgreen's?"  Hopefully this park was better than a treat from Walgreen's.

What do riding a bike and Viewpoints of a Commodity Trader have in common?

If you know my sister and I you might know the answer to this question.....Yes, a slushy.  If you are completely lost, that is OK.  I'll explain....when my sister and I were growing up my dad told us that if we read the book Viewpoints of a Commodity Trader he would buy us a slushy.  We read the whole book and were rewarded with a very yummy slushy.  Fast forward probably 20 years and here I am bribing my child (oops I mean REWARDING) my child with a slushy.  We told Blake that if he could ride all the way around the block on his bike he would get to go to Sonic and get a Cherry Limeade (basically a slushy).  He still has training wheels on it but it has been a really difficult task to get him to even get on his bike.  Last night he rode around the block and then this morning he rode about 1.5 miles on his bike during our walk.  We are so excited for him and proud of him.  He loved his Cherry Limeade!!

Snow Day!

Yes, it snowed in Austin again!  Of course the whole city shuts down even though we probably only got round an inch of snow.  All of the schools were cancelled and Kyle even worked from home this morning because they said the roads were too treacherous and that there had already been 99 collisions since the snow started.  The boys woke up at 6:30 AM and we took an early advantage of the snow.  We never know how long the snow is going to last here in Austin so we have to enjoy it while we have it.  Here are the pics from this morning.
First glimpse of snow 6:30 AM in pajamas/snowsuits.
Blake only lasted outside for a few minutes before he realized that he'd seen snow before and it's not worth being out in the freezing cold weather to play in it.  Hard to believe he was born in Chicago.

Later in the morning we went back out to play.  It was much more pleasant when the sun came out.

This is as big as we could get our snowman :(
